Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Delhi Daredevils by 5 wickets in the 45th match of the IPL 2018 match played in Delhi. Delhi Daredevils first scored 181/4 in reply, in which RCB lost five wickets and achieved the target in 19 overs. Delhi Daredevils have lost the ninth in this 12 matches. AB de Villiers was adjudged Man of the Match for his smoky innings of 72 runs.
Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to bowl first, and Yuswendra Chahal, in his first two overs, shook away the Proteas Shaw (2) and Jason Roy (12) to double the Delhi Daredevils. However, once again Rishabh Pant took over the team with Captain Shreyas Iyer and played a 93-run partnership for the third wicket. Rishabh scored 61 runs in 34 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes. Shreyas Iyer played a slow inning of 32 runs in 35 balls.
Shreyas Iyer started with Sandeep Lamichhane straight away. Lamichhane, the first Nepal cricketer to play IPL, was right on the money and left both RCB openers guessing. Even Rishabh Pant was at sea, conceding 4 bytes in the first over. The pressure created by Lamichhane induced a poor stroke by Moeen Ali. Trent Boult accounted his 14th scalp of the ongoing season as Moeen mistimed a lofted drive and holed out to Prithvi Shaw at the cover
Kohli and de Villiers took centre-stage from there. Kohli was in his elements, playing in his home ground, and tore Junior Dala apart. Poor Dala strayed in line, and Kohli pounced on the freebies. There were some vintage cover-drives from Kohli, every single of them middled perfectly. ABD took time to get going but stayed there until the end. He had demolished DD bowlers in the reverse fixture and remained unbeaten to take RCB home.
But there was one more breathtaking moment that happened during the happy ending of the match which won everybody’s heart in the Firoz Shah Kotla Stadium. And that is Ab Devilliers massive six off Trent Boult which played the prominent role in RCB’s in this crucial match.
