Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to field first in the Nidahas trophy tri-series T20 international match against Sri Lanka in Colombo on Monday.

It will be a 19-over game. Four bowlers can bowl four overs and one bowler can bowl three.

India made one change to its team bringing in KL Rahul in place of Rishabh Pant. Sri Lanka brings in Suranga Lakmal in place of Dinesh Chandimal.

The tournament is currently evenly poised as all the three teams have won a game each from two outings but Sri Lanka is leading the table on net run rate, ahead of India and Bangladesh.

But a win would take India to the top, dislodging the Lankans.

Manish Pandey and wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik starred for the visiting team with 42 not out and 39 not out as they took India home in a crucial Nidahas Trophy T20 tri-series game. India won the game with nine balls and six wickets to spare. Earlier, India had restricted Sri Lanka to 152/9 after winning the toss and opting to bowl in Colombo. Shardul Thakur was the pick of the Indian bowlers as he finished with figures of 4/27 while Kusal Mendis top-scored for the hosts with 55. India got their revenge after the Rohit Sharma-led team were stunned by the hosts in the opener.

The Indian team would have been itching to get onto the field today against Sri Lanka, after that shock loss in the first match of the Nidahas Trophy.

With that thumping win over Bangladesh in the 2nd match of the tournament and Sri Lanka’s loss against Bangladesh on Saturday, Indian went into this game as favorites.

And while Sri Lanka started the game with a bang, getting 11 off the first two balls, Shardul Thakur pegged Sri Lanka back, dismissing Gunathilaka in the 3rd over.

But the wicket belonged to Thakur as much as it did to Raina, who plucked a blinder out of thin air, flying towards his left to get India that much-needed breakthrough.
